Bodegas Naia Verdejo 2013 Sale $12.79 - no minimum order 91 pts Vinous Media / 90 pts Wine Advocate Order Now We didn’t expect the dog days of summer to arrive so early, but ready or not, here they are. We’re always on the hunt for crispy, dry, refreshing wines that don’t break the bank, and at price points that allow us to stock up for pool parties, barbecues, and beach trips. We’ve found another winner in the 2013 Naia Verdejo! Made of 100% Verdejo, this is bright and enormously aromatic, loaded with enticing notes of pink grapefruit, passion fruit, and pineapple. There’s a hint of minerality on the zesty palate, with more of the lovely interplay between citrus and tropical fruit. This finishes completely dry and clean and refreshing, making it delicious on its own but also a perfect match for seafood and summer fare. Light, bright, and just juicy enough....sign me up!! Rueda is a vast, arid region in north-central Spain, where the marginal climate and poor, stony soils are only hospitable – and even then, just barely – to grapes and cereal grains. On a plateau of almost 800 meters above sea level, the diurnal shift here is extreme – which means hot days and cold nights. This, of course, is the key to preserving the natural acidity and balance in wine grapes. Bodegas Naia is located in a sub-zone called La Seca, which is considered the “Grand Cru” of the region. Their very old and well-tended vineyards along with state of the art wine-making are a winning combination! “Light yellow-gold. Lemon zest, fresh fig, smoky minerals and white flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Brisk, tactile and focused, boasting excellent energy to its flavors of fresh citrus fruits, pear, pineapple and sweet butter. Finishes taut, fresh and long, with resonating mineral and floral notes.” – Vinous Media “The 2013 Naia is a serious Verdejo, clean and pure, with floral and white fruit aromas intermixed with some balsamic notes. The palate is very pleasant, with good volume and acidity, which is somehow counterbalanced by residual sugar. Very good value. Drink now-2015.” – Wine Advocate This is great with seafood and summer vegetables – mussels, oysters, and white-meated fish all come to mind. I would also love to pair this with a summer salad of fresh tomatoes, goat cheese, and a drizzle of high quality sherry vinegar. Yum! Order Now Or reply to the email to order. The wine rrives Friday.
