Argiano Description
97 points Kerin O’Keefe / Top 100 Wines of 2025 #36
"Lavender, dark spice, Mediterranean scrub, perfumed wild berry, pipe tobacco and new leather aromas come to the forefront on the gorgeous Argiano 2021 Brunello. Solidifying their role as one of the denomination’s top producers, this is focused, refined and loaded with intensity, delivering layers of black cherry compote, juniper berry, licorice, cocoa and blood orange accompanied by a backbone of fine-grained, well-integrated tannins. It’s still young but already beautifully balanced, with fresh acidity.” KO
Wine Spectator: 96 Points
This is dense and full of cherry, raspberry, earth, iron and tobacco flavors. A broad base of sinewy tannins lends support, while the lively acidity drives the long aftertaste of red fruit. All of the components are there; this just needs time.

"Displaying a bright, transparent red color and coming mostly from oceanic soils of the property, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino is highly appealing on opening, with notes of red cherries, cranberries, orange peel, fennel, and fresh herbs. It brings great energy and focus to the palate, with a medium-bodied frame, and it resonates with a refreshing spine of acidity, well-defined, angular tannins, and wonderful length. A fabulous wine, it will be worth it to stash a few bottles away. Drink 2026-2046.” - Audrey Frick
James Suckling: 94 Points
"With more than 500 years of documented winemaking history (with a villa and cellars dating back to 1580), Argiano is one of the oldest and most important estates in Montalcino. The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino shows consistency and a velvety texture with blackberry and blackcurrant. There is good freshness here, and the wine is a rather lean in terms of mouthfeel."
Vinous Media: 94+ Points
“Under the guidance of winemakers Bernardino Sani and Francesco Monari, the Argiano wines are unrecognizable from those produced over a decade ago. After consulting with renowned terroir specialist Pedro Parra to study and zone their vineyard, the team has set out to showcase the purity of Sangiovese and the unique character of their terroir. While readers may sway toward the prestige of the single-vineyard Vigna del Suolo, I highly recommend the straight Brunello as well. The 2021 is a gorgeous example of southwestern Montalcino terroir and should mature beautifully over the coming ten to fifteen years.” – Eric Guido
