As near as anyone can figure, Garnacha originated in the Kingdom of Aragon. (today, the northeastern region of Spain.) And while these vines aren’t original – that would make them 1,400 years old! – they are pretty darn old, planted in 1900 and 1911! Located at high altitude, the vineyards experience severe temperature swings – as much as 60 degrees in a day! This results in extremely ripe grapes that are balanced by high levels of acidity. The result is spectacular! Jeb Dunnuck compares to high-end Chateauneuf du Pape!
