The Il Carnasciale estate sits in the Valdarno di Sopra region of Tuscany, about 30 kilometers north of Siena in the southern mountains of Chianti. This small organically farmed hilltop property is one of Tuscany’s hidden gems, yet with only a little over 5 hectares of vines we just don’t see much of their wine. This is just the second vintage of the Ottantadue cuvee, and from the excellent 2018 vintage in Tuscany too! A pure expression of 100% mountain grown Sangiovese that is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel and concrete tanks. No oak equals untamed vibrant Sangiovese goodness! This beauty bursts with classic aromas and flavors of dark cherry and plum, with hints of earth, wild herb, leather, and spice. There’s plenty of concentration and power here too, Antonio Galloni suggests this bottling will age well for another 8+ years… Load up!
