Corinne Guillemard-Clerc is a 3rd generation farmer, and the first to make wine and bottle under the family name. Still, she is a grower first and foremost, with only 30% of her production being bottled. Tiny by most standards, she owns a modest 25 acres spread over 15 appellations, most in Puligny and Beaune.
“Les Parties” is an exceptional vineyard located in the village of Puligny-Montrachet. While sourced from a “lesser” vineyard, Corinne treats this wine exactly the same as she does her 1er Cru Puligny – hand-harvested and sorted, then pressed immediately to avoid any risk of oxidation. The juice is then put straight into oak barrels (20% new Allier – the fancy ones!) and held for 9 months.
The result is a classic expression of Puligny-Montrachet – precise, focused and powerful, yet graceful and balanced. Juicy tropical notes combine with white flowers and minerals on the nose, giving way to laser-focused flavors of the same, along with green apple and lemon grass. Bright acidity keeps everything in check and has you coming back for more! This baby demands delicate, yet rich food. Chicken with morel mushrooms would be lovely! Or sea bass on a bed of lentils. Hmmm…
Tastes like Puligny-Montrachet (not surprising, given it comes from inside the village boundaries!)…. As low as $20? What is this – 1986?
