Based in Napa Valley, Jax vineyards was founded 1996 by brother and sister Trent and Kimberly Jackson. Third generation farmers and ranchers, their deep roots in California have given them incredible access to some of the best fruit in Sonoma and Napa.
It also helps that their winemaker, Kirk Venge, is a legend in his own right. Learning from his father- the “King of Cab” Nils Venge, Kirk has risen to become one of America’s most compelling winemakers- making a name for himself through the eponymous Venge Vineyards as well as his other consulting work.
Y3 is basically all of that viticultural experience put into a bottle. Sourcing fruit from some of the best vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, it’s a marvelous, holistic picture of old-school California Cabernet. Deep and dense with dark fruit tones and a robust structure, this captures the true strength of Cabernet while still highlighting the delicate floral and spice aromatics that make for a truly exceptional bottle. Perfectly structured, exquisitely crafted but with that indulgent and hedonistic streak at it’s core, this is everything I want Cabernet to be!
Wine Enthusiast: 93 Points
"This wine is deep, concentrated, with aromas of boysenberry, black currant, eucalyptus, black tea, and notes of Tahitian vanilla on the nose. The flavors on the palate are blueberry compote, black cherry, orange peel, dried bay leaf, and a silky long finish. Decant and Enjoy."
James Suckling: 92 Points
“Very textural and chewy, this wine is lively, deep and youthful, offering exuberant red and black cherries with accents of bay leaves, raspberries and mint. Backed by fine-grained tannins and good, lively acidity on a full body. Drink or hold."
