I won’t say that this little Pinot rivals Burgundy, but I would certainly put this up against any Loire Pinot Noir! After two macerations, this Pinot is not lacking in texture, depth, or tannin. It’s medium+ in body, aged in large and even larger used French barrels only to introduce oxygen. Maks goal is not oak flavor, but to round out the edges for a silky finish. The juicy fruit is prominent with cherry, wild strawberry and perfectly balanced with Mexican-chocolate spice and a slightly smoky minerality. This is sinfully good.
