Also, if you scroll down, I still have a little Dom Perignon Plenitude left... The rarest wines from Champagne’s most prestigious house! Availability on all is extremely limited as noted below.
Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2002- $2149 net (2 bottles available) - 99 pts Wine Advocate / 98 pts Vinous Media - “The 2002 Clos d’Ambonnay is another spectacular Champagne from Krug. In fact, the 2002 may very well be the most sensual Clos d’Ambonnay yet. Opulent, intense and yet light on its feet, the 2002 has it all. Hints of ash, graphite and smoke wrap around a core of rich Pinot fruit in a powerful, riveting wine of the highest level. Chef de Caves Eric Lebel describes 2002 as a perfect growing season. “We had sun we wanted it and rain we needed it,” he told me recently. The Krug team captured everything the vintage had to offer, certainly to a far greater degree than they did with the 2002 Clos du Mesnil or Vintage. Readers who can find the 2002 Clos d’Ambonnay and who can look past the price will experience a seriously phenomenal Champagne. That’s all there is to it.” - VM
Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2000 - $2099 net (1 bottle available) - 95 pts Wine Spectator - “An elegant, almost ethereal Champagne, showing a subtle richness and power, with vibrant acidity and a beautifully creamy mousse carrying the finely meshed flavors of Chambord liqueur, singed orange peel, biscuit and spun honey, accented by hints of toasted almond, saline and smoke that gain momentum and echo on the finish. Disgorged autumn 2013. Drink now through 2025.” – WS
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2004 - $999 net (2 bottles available) - 98+ pts Vinous Media / 97 pts Wine Spectator - “The 2004 Clos du Mesnil captures all the pedigree of this epic Blanc des Blancs vintage. A soaring, majestic Champagne, the 2004 dazzles from the very first taste with its crystalline purity and brightness. In two tastings so far, the 2004 has been nothing less than a total showstopper. The vertical structure and pure, tightly-coiled power are the stuff dreams are made of. There is little doubt the 2004 is one of the very finest Clos du Mesnils in recent memory. Will it join the 1979, 1988 and 1996 as one of the all-time greats? Now, that is a tasting I would love to do!” – VM
Krug Collection 1988 - $959 net (1 bottles available) - 97 pts Vinous Media / 96 pts Wine Spectator - “The 1988 Collection offers stunning interplay of vintage 1988 vibrancy with the complexity that has developed in bottle. Apricot, pastry, brioche, dried flowers, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes all infuse the 1988 with notable complexity and nuance. At 31 years of age, the 1988 Collection remains taut, classically austere and full of energy. It will drink well for another 20 years or more.” – VM
Krug 2004 – $269 net (9 bottles available) - 97+ pts Vinous Media - “Krug's 2004 Vintage is absolutely mesmerizing. Layers of bright, chiseled fruit open up effortlessly as the wine fleshes out with time in the glass. Persistent and beautifully focused, with a translucent sense of energy, the 2004 captures all the best qualities of the year. Moreover, the 2004 is clearly superior to the consistently underwhelming 2002 and the best Krug Vintage since 1996. Readers who can find it should not hesitate, as it is a magical bottle.” - VM
Krug 2006 – $269 net (12 bottles available) - 97 pts Vinous Media - “Krug 2006 Vintage is bright, tense and full of energy. Lemon confit, pastry, chamomile, dried flowers and tangerine oil all race out of the glass. The breadth of the Pinot comes through on the mid-palate and finish, as the 2006 gains power and resonance with a bit of aeration. Light tropical inflections, along with hints of almond and spice, open up later, adding further shades of nuance. Although it has just been released, the 2006 is unusually open and a real pleasure to taste today. In most vintages, Krug demands cellaring, but in the 2006 readers will find a Krug Vintage that is superb, even in the early going.” - VM
And magnums… these are only available by the 3 pack case. Pricing is for the Pack.
Krug Rose 19th edition NV 1.5L 3 pack – $2399 net for the pack (one 3 pack available) - 94 pts Vinous Media - “The NV Brut Rosé is brilliant and finely-sculpted in the glass, with floral aromatics, pulsating minerality and chiseled fruit. Less austere than it can be, the Rosé impresses for its combination of tension and textured, phenolic weight. There is so much to like. This release (ID 213027) is based on the 2006 vintage. The blend is 59% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 8% Pinot Meunier. Disgorged Spring 2013.” - VM
Krug 2003 1.5L 3 pack – $1679 net (two 3 packs available) - 95 pts Vinous Media - “Light yellow. Powerful, complex bouquet evokes fresh peach, pear, floral honey, green almond and smoky minerals. Deep, palate-staining citrus and orchard fruit flavors show outstanding vivacity for a hot vintage, picking up ginger and talc notes with air. The strikingly long, sappy finish features zesty orange pith, smoky minerals and an echo of honeysuckle. I'd be in no rush to drink this one. Speaking of waiting, I had the chance to revisit the 2000 Vintage Krug and it has begun to pick up the smoky, weighty and nutty character that long-time fans of this producer crave. It's still plenty young but already unmistakably Krug, with a chewy texture and a sexy floral nuance dominating right now.” - VM
Krug Grande Cuvee 166th edition 1.5L 3 pack - $1299 net (three 3 packs available) - 94 pts Vinous Media - “The MV Grande Cuvée 166ème, based on the 2010 vintage, offers good depth, but it also comes across as a bit angular and in need of time in bottle to soften. Certainly, next to the 2008 and 2009 editions, the 2010 is a touch rough around the edges. Even so, there is good freshness and verve to the bright citrus, mineral and floral flavors.” - VM
Dom Perignon Plenitude (P2) from the legendary 1999 and 1998 vintages in Champagne! 96 pts Wine Spectator / 96 pts James Suckling / 94 pts Vinous Media ON THE NOSE: The wine has achieved an intense, full and radiant bouquet, with notes of honeysuckle, orange colored fruits, toasted almonds and hints of iodine sensations. ON THE PALATE: The creamy chewiness characterizing the vintage is channeled in a direction that is edgy yet embracing, with a wave of aromatic persistence. Its finish – smoky, biting and full of energy – offers balance and harmony. FOOD PAIRING: Pairing caviar with Dom Pérignon is evident. The caviar underscores the precision, the depth, and the maturity of P2 1998's additional years of elaboration in the Dom Pérignon cellar. A substance that is both dark and luminous, black, it shines and becomes translucent. The caviar transfigures the energy of Dom Pérignon P2 1998. - winery note
Dom Perignon P2 1999 - $379 net ON THE NOSE: Its complexity brings a sensory chiaroscuro, juxtaposing fruit and ripeness. Warm, mineral, cocoa and smoked peat notes converse with the more delicate character of a dried flower and candied tropical fruit. The overall sensation is enhanced with touches of peppery wood. THE 1999 HARVEST: The weather was contrasted, often unexpected. The average temperature for the year was high, and the long, dry, summer season was confirmed as being "tropical", punctuated with strong winds and several hailstorms. Rain during picking (on 14 September) had no effect on the healthy and plentiful harvest, which was extraordinary in its strength and body. - winery notes
