"Hell hath no fury like a distributor scorned..."
You know the drill... a prestigious California winery chooses to move from one distributor to another... but the new distributor doesn’t want to pick up the inventory from the old distributor. So the scorned distributor... well... you see the result.

“Farmed to “The Hilt,” these killer Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are made by superstar winemaker Matt Dees.” – Jeb Dunnuck
100% Chardonnay from Bentrock, Sanford & Benedict, Solomon Hills, and Radian vineyards in Santa Barbara county. Fermented and aged in 40% new French oak, 53% neutral French oak, and 7% stainless steel.
“Golden peach and lemon oil. Touch of flinty complexity. Fresh baked brioche with apricot. Chamomile notes and candied ginger. Stone fruit and acacia honey on the suave and generous palate. Luminous acidity forms the perfect balance to the notes of sweet cream that emerge on the long and luscious finish. Elegant, refined and full of the tantalizing energy that makes chardonnays from this area so singular and remarkable.” – Matt Dees, winemaker.
“Lightly colored, with beautiful white citrus, white flowers, spice, and obvious minerality and salinity, the 2016 Chardonnay is medium-bodied, rounded, and beautifully textured on the palate. It has both freshness and richness and is perfect introduction into the wines of this estate, which is the idea with this cuvée.” - JD
“The 2016 Chardonnay Estate spent 11 months in 38% new French oak. It has an open nose of ripe peach, apricot, toast, gunflint and pie crust with dried chamomile and honey-drizzled apple slices. Medium-bodied, it offers concentrated stone fruit and honey-nut character in the mouth, with seamless acidity and a long, textured finish. 1,100 cases produced.” – WA
“The 2016 Chardonnay is a tasty entry-level offering from The Hilt. Translucent and lifted, with lovely orchard fruit and floral character, the 2016 has a lot to offer. Lightly tropical notes add lovely nuance throughout.” – VM
