Wanna know how good this is? We scored a handful of cases over the summer... yeah... Bordeaux in June... yikes... but the demand after people popped a bottle was so, um, demanding, that I tracked down another 19 cases... the last available from the winery! Stunning stuff... (1).jpg) 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet France. This wine comes from young vines that were replanted by new owners earlier this decade. Before replanting, they terraced a section of the vineyards they thought was exceptional. Yeah… guess where these come from? Terraces = Terrasses. One can only imagine what the future holds for this estate considering their other sections are producing 94-97 pt wine!
If you’ve enjoyed some of the 2015 or 2016, then you already know what I am talking about. But while you wait for those to age a little, you can dive right into this one. This wine is aged entirely in cement tanks – the intention being to make it accessible young. Like, I dunno… this weekend? Absolutely beautiful aromas of blackerries and cassis lead into an intense wine, lusciously flowing with black fruit flavors along with hints of wild herbs, blood orange and lavender blossoms. There's enough tannins for classic red meat pairings, but this gem is accessible enough to pair with white meat dishes ,like Coq au Vin, roasted pork loin or veal.
“I like the aromas of blackberries, mushrooms and bark that flow through to a palate with a medium body, fine-grained tannins and a fresh finish. A thoroughly delicious wine from Château Tour Saint Christophe. Drink now and enjoy.” JS “Nice nose of crushed berries. Black cherry, liquorice, elegant on the palate and well balanced. Round wine, good structure with elegant tannins on a finish with slightly oaky notes. The minerality that is specific to Tour Saint Christophe is well represented here” winemaker note
