Laura Diaz Munoz, remember this name. Laura is a rising star winemaker, and one to watch for sure. Her Galerie wines are exceptional examples of the best that Napa Valley can produce, and for now at least these wines are still available at reasonable prices. Laura honed her skills under the tutelage of Chris Carpenter (Cardinale, Lokoya at $200+ a bottle), and Pierre Seillan (Verite $350+ a bottle), and judging by how good her Galerie wines are I expect it won’t be long before they’re selling for $100+ a bottle too.

This 2016 is the second vintage containing fruit from the prestigious Bosche vineyard in Napa, those wines usually sell for $120+ a bottle. Beautiful dark red cherry notes jump from the glass, with hints of wild flowers, chocolate and rocks. Medium bodied and wonderfully balanced on the palate. There’s plenty of juicy red berry fruit surrounding a good core of fine tannins, and a freshness brought by bright acidity lively minerals. A persistent long finish that seems to last for days leads me to believe that as good as this wine is now, it has the potential to age gracefully for well over a decade. Incredible stuff, this is a do not miss for any fan of Cabernet.
