92 pts Wine Spectator - #23 Wine of the Year 2020
In the history of the Wine Spectator, there have been only TWELVE other New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs to merit 92 pts with a retail under $18. That’s out of 2,065 sub $20 NZ Sauv Blancs reviewed!
That Allan Scott has delivered one of the all-time greats is not much of a surprise, though. He has worked every harvest since 1973 and is credited with planting some of region’s most famous vineyards, including the very first. In 1990, Allan and his wife Catherine established Scott Family Winery as one of the first independent wineries of Marlborough. And, go figure, the Rapaura area along the northern edge of the Wairau Valley where Scott planted his vineyard has become renowned as the most prized location in Marlborough. Put it all together and, here we are!
“Supple and succulent, offering a generous and juicy mix of passion fruit, Key lime and ruby grapefruit flavors. Expressive and strong on the finish, with touches of freshly grated ginger and green tea." WS "“It’s intensely aromatic and instantly appealing on the nose showing grapefruit, Granny Smith apple, nectarine and lime peel aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that’s lively and flavoursome. It’s punchy and vibrant with excellent varietal purity, finishing long and refreshing. " 94 pts Wine Orbit (No idea who that is... but the description is nice!)
