Haut-Brisson St. Emilion 2017 (label for illustration only) Sale $31.99
93 pts Vinous / 93 pts James Suckling
Haut-Brisson is a relatively small Chateau of 20 hectares. The first of the properties purchased by Peter Kwok that now form Vignobles K - including Tour St. Christophe, Bellefont Belcier, Eclos Tourmaline and others - Haut-Brisson does one thing really well - churn out one of the best bargains in St. Emilion, year after year after year! Sandwiched between the more popular 2016 and 2018 vintages, this 2017 is everything you could want - it's super fleshy and opulent, with no need for decanting or waiting to enjoy. It will age well for another 7-10 years but there is no need to delay gratification!
“It has a well-defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and crushed stone aromas, a light violet scent emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and quite opulent although there is fine acidity on the peppery finish that keep everything in balance.” Vinous
"This is such a friendly and enjoyable red with crushed berries and chocolate, as well as walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full and flavorful with a fine-tannined texture. Success. A blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc." JS
