If I needed a textbook example of a delicious Provence Rose, this would absolutely be it! Hecht and Bannier has oft been my reference point for many styles throughout France, in large part due to their outstanding quality (especially considering their modest price). If you love Rose, or if you still haven’t been sold on how exceptional pink wine can be, this is 100% a winner.
It’s light and bright, with an exceptional intensity full of raspberry and strawberry flavors. There’s a little bit of an herbal note as well, which amplifies the fruit even more while maintaining a precise acidity that balances out everything for a well structured finish. True to a lot of Mediterranean wines, there’s also a wonderful hint of peach that that runs throughout it and provides a juiciness that makes it all the more thirst-quenching on a warm day.
“Classic” might be the best possible way I can describe this wine. It’s everything you could ask for in terms of refreshing, and perfect for outdoor parties or as a post-work porch-sipper. It’s also great with charcuterie plates- think some thinly sliced prosciutto and a little cheese, or alongside lighter springtime fare like some poached salmon! Click the pic for a recipe perfect for a simple, delicious dinner on the patio!
