Last call at these prices! The Delta wines have been a revelation for us over the past year - delicious wines from California at an everyday price! With all of these wines getting a 90 pt review in Wine Enthusiast for the previous vintage, we have no compunction in claiming Delta as our US Value Winery of the Year! Vintners Alexis and Matt Iaconis are raising their young family in the heart of California wine country, Healdsburg Sonoma. They produce great wines and give back with a $1 of every bottle sold going to environmental causes https://www.winesforchange.com/giving-back
"We’re here to do our part in order to protect our planet so it continues to thrive for generations to come."
And here is where I pop in a picture of Rich's little boy to shamelessly tug at your heartstrings. Damn, he is handsome. Ok, to the wines!
All of these are regularly $19.99... on sale today for $15.99. That BEATS the best US Price for Each and Every One! But let's go further...
Mix any six bottles and pay just $14.99 per bottle.
Mix a Case and pay Just $13.99 per bottle
Delta Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2020 - The fruit is sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards dotted along the California coastline. Native yeast fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve the intense fruit aromas and flavors. And what glorious aromas and flavors they are: Cantaloupe, passion fruit, lime, citrus blossom, fennel and on and on!
Ok... let me anticipate the two questions most likely to be asked next... "How does this compare next to New Zealand Sauv Blanc? And how does this stack up with the Sancerre we've been drinking like water?"
Great questions! So, it is not as "sharp" or "pungent" as a Kiwi SB... techincally speaking, there are less pyrazines, which impart the tell-tale herbaceous notes. There is still loads of fruit in the Delta, but it is more rounded... less citrus and more peach skin and melon. And while the acidity is vibrant, the Delta is less minerally than our favorite Sancerre. In all, I like to think of this as another weapon in our Sauv Blanc arsenal! It is fabulous as an aperitif and will be divine with a light fish dish. OH my... when was the last time you had Trout Almondine? I made it a couple months ago... flashback to culinary school! So delicious. And as fresh as we can get trout? Go for it! Click on the pic for a recipe.
"Savory and crisp with a salty, briny characteristic of oyster shell, this bright, cheerful and well-made white is a celebration of Ruby Red grapefruit and melon. Crisp and high toned, it rewards in lasting freshness and is a steal at the price. " WE on 90 pt 2019
Delta Wines Chardonnay 2020 - This Chardonnay is oaked, but not oaky, the fruit shines prominently. Fresh picked golden delicious apple, tangerine, Bartlett pear, with some creme caramel and vanilla bean. Creamy and textured on the tongue, really polished and pure with just enough acidity to keep things delicate and bright. Perfect as a porch sipper, pairs great with food too, chicken salad, fresh catch, and creamy pasta dishes.
"This youthful wine takes a minute to come around in the glass, showing its tightly wound intensity of oak up front before settling into a more balanced contrast of richness and acidity. Floral and earthy, it lingers in tangerine and blood-orange flavors, with a hint of vanilla cream. " - WE 90
Delta Wines Pinot Noir 2020 [Rich] We sell a ton of domestic Pinot Noir. Oregon dominates, outselling California by almost four times as much. But why? For value these days, Cali is really where it is at. Sure, Oregon makes great Pinot Noir, but the Willamette craze has gained so much traction that the price points are getting higher and higher these days. Sub $15 Pinot from Oregon of any kind of quality? Sadly, those days are long gone, believe me I've tried to find one. "But Rich, California Pinots are so heavy and high in alcohol." That is just not true anymore either. As winemaking styles change, and global warming takes effect, there is a much finer line between Oregon and California Pinots. Ok, off my soap box, onto the wine...
This is a bright and silky-smooth Pinot that can be enjoyed by itself with a little chill and will pair with a broad range of foods too. With fresh aromas of wild berries, violets and rose petals, it's really pretty from the offset. Juicy and pure with black cherry and strawberry fruit, hints of minerals, soft tannins, and delicate acidity. Thoroughly delicious and as Tim says "crushable!"
"An elegant simplicity of red cherry, strawberry and blood orange accent crisp, delicate and nuanced varietal power in this well-made red that punches above its weight. Deliciously enjoyable, it offers integrated tannin and oak with plenty of earthy undertones." - WE 90 pts 2018.
Delta Wines Zinfandel 2019 - Given our love for all things Delta we were excited to taste their Zinfandel and we weren’t disappointed! Sourced form sustainably farmed sites on California’s North Coast and natively fermented and aged in 100% neutral barrels this Zin bursts with pure bright fruit aromas of blackberry, wild plum, and raspberry, with accents of spice and pepper. It’s juicy and round on the palate, with soft tannins, more dark fruits and a fresh finish that keeps you coming back for more. Fire up the grill, here’s a Zin to enjoy all summer long!
“This is such a solidly made, ultimately drinkable wine at such a value-minded price that it is hard to resist. Smoky dark chocolate meets thick blackberry jam as a lift of brightness keeps it balanced and lengthy.” – 90 pts Wine Enthusiast for the 2018.
