Guillaume Gonnet Tavel Rose 2020
Three-Liter BiB (Bag in Box) Sale $49.99 (Equivalent to Four regular bottles)
Long story short... Gonnet Tavel has been our top-selling rose of the past few years... faced with the 25% tariffs earlier this year, I scrambled and secured an exclusive from the winery - their incredible Tavel rose in a bag... in a box... the intent was to deliver the product to you at the price we wanted... and something you'd be happy as a clam to have available at a moment's notice, barely taking up any room in your fridge. Going to the pool this summer (hopefully)? Just grab the box and go. Beach, pond, pool, lake... heck tennis court, golf cart... you name it and these little babies are ready to go. And there's the environmentally friendly recyclable box versus all that glass.
Then the tarriffs went away.
So, instead of $59.99, we are offering this for just $49.99! That's a stupid $12.50 per bottle equivalent. For Tavel.
A couple of answers to your pending questions...
- Once opened, the wine will stay in the same perfect drinking condition for roughly 6 weeks. Of course, I suspect most will drink it within a week or two.
- Unopened, the wine will stay in prime condition for 12-18 months.
- Dimensions are roughly 17" tall x 11" deep x 5" wide.
- About 2/3 of these are pre-sold. I cannot get more, so grab what you want now. I expect these to sell out today or tomorrow.
Ah… Tavel… the only appellation in the Rhone Valley to produce nothing but rose wine. Not just any rose, either - Tavel is considered by most of the “cognoscenti” to produce the finest rose in all the world! It is also one of the few that can actually age, and improve with age! Often, I find myself putting my Tavel away for a year before consuming! Of course, that requires me to buy more than I will drink on the first weekend of having it!
“Gorgeous Tavel dresses in a thousand shades of pink to seduce and captivate the senses.” Random quote I think is cool…
This is absolutely classic Tavel. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 10% Syrah offering a deep cherry-red color, the wine draws you in notes of raspberries, wild strawberries, a hint of orange blossom and minerality. A tangle of briary fruits envelopes your senses as you dive in for a sip – blackberry and raspberry – especially the wild variety, with their brighter acidity and ripe/tart balance! Hints of Provencal herbs on the finish bring it all together – this is a wine of place… of the earth… of terroir! This begs to be drunk outside – 85 degrees and sunny on Saturday! Perfect! Some olives and cheese while you fire up the grill. Then marinated chicken thighs… some little fingerling potatoes… oohh and fresh spring onions! Yum!
