Located about an hour southeast of Vienna, Weingut Steindorfer is a traditionally-run family operation located on the eastern bank of Lake Neusiedl. Ahh… isn’t that beautiful?
Perfect for a picnic on the lake, or wherever you can get to, this is quintessential Pinot Gris offering aromas of ripe pears and a hint of pineapple. It has more body than you typically find in an Italian Grigio, yet less than the sumptuous versions from Alsace, meaning you can pair this with light dishes like trout, but also with slightly heavier foods like chicken or pork. Hmm... if you were ordering takeout tonight, Wiener Schnitzel would certainly be a fabulous option.
And it is super easy to make at home, with hardly anything to buy. Veal, chicken or pork cutlets, eggs, bread crumbs (which you can make yourself), flour and you've got dinner with an Austrian flair! Click the pic for a recipe.
"The nose is shy, but some notions of yellow pear escape. The palate is fine and bright, easy and fresh, presenting ripe pear and juicy, ripe lemon. This is easy, light and dry with a very refreshing finish." WE on the 2018
