[Rich] Simply put, this is the best $12 Albarino I’ve ever tasted! And I should know - I'm English and apparently we are reknowned for the amount of Alabrino we drink! Heck, I’d go as far as saying this is one of the finest $12 white wines I’ve had in years. Why else would I bring it out for my son's Birthday Sale?

Nortico Alvarinho is always a superb value. But this 2020 bottling is really something special. Tasted earlier this summer in the midst of 20+ white wine samples from the Iberian peninsula, including many at $40+ a bottle, this was the clear standout. Aside from being flat out delicious it’s just so darn drinkable! You see at the end of a monster tasting this was the wine that Liz and I chose to drink. Evidently Todd and Amy did the same at their house, we were texting back and forth about it all night long!
Alvarinho is the Portugese name for Albarino, a grape that needs little introduction these days as its one of our fastest growing sales categories. We’ve all been sucking down the Spanish versions faster than we can find them. Todd prefers the super aromatic fruit laden style of Albarino, and I lean more towards the stony minerals and fresh acidity. Here the two styles interplay perfectly. One sip of this gem, and you'll be hooked too…
100% Alvarinho from small garden plots with vines planted as far back as 1910! This delicious little white is fresh and vibrant, with aromas of peach, lemongrass and passion fruit. . Light and easy to drink with bright citrus and stone fruits, with plenty of complexity, crisp stony minerals, and zippy acidity bringing you back for sip after sip. A great porch sipper (pounder!), perfect for green salads and fresh shellfish. Or sit on the porch and quaff it down with some cornbread and butter – just like they do in Portugal! Seriously, that’s the traditional food – maybe we’re all just Portuguese at heart down here in the South!
If you love Albarino load up now. If you’ve never tried the grape but enjoy crisp aromatic white wines, what are you waiting for?!!
