Danielle's White Wine Features are BACK!!! Don't be bashful about showing her some love and order some up! [Danielle] This wine brings you and I full circle… I first wrote to you about an Eden Valley Riesling at the beginning of the year. I wanted my first offer to be something versatile, thirst-quenching, exciting, and ultimately, just something I loved! The ultra-dry Riesling out of this renowned region checks all the boxes, and we found another stunner, by Hewitson this time - the guys you go to when you want low-intervention, terroir-driven wines…

This single-vineyard Eden Valley Riesling delivers on more fronts than a $20 wine has a right to! The soil of the higher elevation Moculta Road Vineyard is littered with grey-colored stone, which lends to the mineral profile, as well as the memorable name. The cool climate here enhances the natural acidity, and we still get lovely weight in the resulting wine. Food-friendly white, anyone? The initial aroma of petrol mixed with a little lime and white petals is ultra-inviting, and it eases you into the mouth-watering citrus and stone-fruit flavors. It ends with the powdery-dry, steely, crushed stone minerality that lingers, and makes you understand the fan-fare. Ultimately, we’re left with the clearest view of the vineyard thanks to Dean Hewitson’s sustainable methods – whole-cluster pressed, cold settle and free-run fermentation. No added sugar or acids. Just straight-up juice!
“This is so vibrant and has a super fresh, lemon and white-peach nose with notes of crushed stones and apricots. The palate has chalky, dry, sinewy texture and great depth of flavor. Holds really long and fresh. The acidity is pitched-in perfectly. So much flavor here” JS
