Antinori - Il Bruciato Guado al Tasso 2023
Price: $44.99
Il Bruciato us the baby sibling of Antinori's Guado al Tasso, and it deserves some close attention too. Using the same estate vineyards in Bolgheri, and the same winemaking team at their state of the art winery. Bolgheri Rossos are typically expensive, it’s the high-rent district, and some of the most coveted wines in all of Italy (Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Le Macchiole) come from here. Il Bruciato 2016 captures all the greatness of the region and the vintage, and at less than $30 a bottle this Bolgheri Rosso is accessible to all.
A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Syrah, aged in small French oak barrels for eight months. Its wonderfully aromatic, wild blackberries and dark chocolate mix seamlessly, accented by notes of sweet oak, cherries and vanilla. Smooth and round on the palate, with good structure and plush tannins. Layers of dark fruits coat your tongue, pepped by spiced oak and minerals. Medium-bodied, with modern appeal, yet quintessentially Tuscan with some earth tones a long dry finish. Drink now, or happily age for 3-4 years. I agree with Monica Larner “It doesn't try to be anything other than it is: Delicious.”
