The Eola-Amity Hills is the perfect appellation for white wine because of the cool Pacific winds that blow through the Van Duzer Corridor and over these vineyards. Particularly in warm vintages like the Willamette Valley has experienced over the last decade, Eola-Amity whites are the ones to seek out for their incredible balance of ripeness and acidity.
This Pinot Blanc is the perfect example. Ben retains all the minerality and tension from his cool climate fruit by avoiding malolactic fermentation, and yet, the texture and creaminess are quintessentially Pinot Blanc from a warm year. A big, beautiful bouquet is the star of this wine, full of pear, white peach, lemon zest, white flowers and mint. It’s invigorating!
Bethel Heights Description
“Our scant one acre of Pinot blanc planted own-rooted in 1992 was joined in 2024 by an acre of Pinot blanc we grafted at our Justice Vineyard, giving as a new, healthy source of grapes as the original vines decline. The effusive tropical and stone fruit tones from the original Bethel Heights vineyard are now joined by cooler, mineral and slate tones from the Justice fruit, marking 2024 a new era of Pinot blanc for us.”
Jeb Dunnuck: 93 Points
“A bright straw/silver hue, the 2024 Pinot Blanc Estate sees five months in neutral barrels and leans into savory tones of fennel, melon, white pepper, and green almond. Medium to full-bodied, it reveals ripe notes of white peach and a delicately waxy texture, finishing with impressive length. Drink over the next 6-7 years.”
Vinous Media: 93 Points
“The 2024 Pinot Blanc Estate blends minty herbs, stone fruits and chamomile to form a lifted, inviting bouquet. Pleasant inner sweetness emerges on the palate, matched by nearly oily textures as stimulating acidity excites the senses and orchard fruits laced with herbs cascade throughout. The finish is long and pleasantly tense with a sour citrus tang that refreshes the palate.”
