"AP: 17 24. The 2023 Ritsch Riesling Auslese, as it is referred to on the front label, was made from 10%-botrytized grapes picked at 95° Oechsle and was fermented and matured in Fuder down to fully sweet levels of residual sugar (95 g/l). It shows a captivating nose of candied grapefruit, tangerine, citrusy fruits, lemon candy, tar, smoke, rosemary, and minty herbs, all wrapped in a whiff of volatile acidity which enhances the aromatics. The wine proves fully rich and sweet on the palate, where exotic fruits and honeyed elements superbly interplay with fresher flavors of citrusy fruits and mint. The finish proves energetic and focused. This already plays in Auslese GK territory, and as such is a splendid dessert wine. 2031-2053."
James Suckling: 98 Points
This is as much a masterpiece of filigree as the stained glass windows of a Gothic cathedral. At least this is the first impression, then when you reach the wine’s deep core you find gigantic concentration and off-the-scale wet stone minerality. What brilliance and delicacy this has in its almost endless finish. Vegan. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Riesling Thörnicher Ritsch Auslese comes from an extremely steep site and was the first pick of the harvest at this estate. Made from grapes with botrytized berries, it has a relatively shy nose and plunges into candied lemon zest on the palate. It remains serene and slim, with concentration but no obvious botrytized tones. This wine stays clear as a bell and shines with lemony purity.
