For me, the key to great Bourdeaux Blanc is balancing the bright, citrusy acidity of Sauvignon Blanc with the juiciness of Semillon. If you do it just right, you get this great best-of-both worlds wine that’s refreshing and quenching, but still with enough stuffing to allow it to pair with a broader variety of foods. The Marjosse hits the nail on the head and then some, thanks to the addition of a few of the lesser known Bourdeaux varietals (Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle) which really up the aromatics!
There’s a lot going on in the bottle, to be sure, but the biggest miracle is that it all just seems to meld so harmoniously together. Every flavor note seems to uplift the others in a, blossoming into something that hits every single note just the way you want it.
Decanter: 90 Points
"Expressive nose, alive and abundant, shining out the glass. Good succulence here, tight and focused but so nuanced and detailed. Really delivering a punchy, precise glass of wine that doesn't swerve from the centre. This has such a gorgeous crispness but also chalkiness on the palate giving some dry tannins that settle and give structure and nuance. Shots of sour lemon give the high-toned with creamy apricot and peach nuances adding depth to the middle. Round and energetic." Decanter
James Suckling: 90-91 Points
"Crisp and clean white with a medium body and bright acidity. A little reductive, with flinty notes alongside green apples, lemons, stones and seashells. Fresh."
Vinous Media: 90 Points
"The 2021 Marjosse Blanc is terrific. In 2021, the Blanc has a bit more texture than normal, and that works so well in playing off the natural energy that is such a signature here. Lemon confit, white flowers, lime and a touch of marzipan all grace this engaging dry white. The 2021 is showing beautifully, despite its recent bottling just a few months ago. Tasted two times." - Antonio Galloni
