Macon-Charnay lies north of Pouilly-Fuisse and is one of the most highly-regarded villages of the Macon. It is super teeny at just 141 acres - just 1% of the Macon. It is 1/15th the size of Pouilly-Fuisse. Which is why we don’t see much!
The yields are 20-30% lower than what the appellation allows, giving Marie-Pierre Manciat the ability to craft rich and powerful wines, while still emphasizing the minerality of the terroir.
All stainless steel fermentation. High-toned aromatics of calcaire, apple and pear skin; in the mouth the wine is vibrant and fresh, good tension & very fruit driven; lemon oil, tangerine, smoke, wet chalky stones and nice fat. The finish here is extra-long and always on the fruit.
