Ok. The package. It’s pretty sweet, isn’t it? The shape of the bottle, the color of the wine, heck, and the glass stopper… makes you just want to pop one open and stick a big old straw in it, doesn’t it? I know. Of course, I didn’t do that. No… not me. I don’t have time for straws…
To my liking, this is about as perfect as rose can get, striking the right balance between rich fruit, fine minerality, and racy acidity. No matter which style of rose your tastes lean towards, this will knock your socks off. If it doesn’t? Well, I think perhaps rose just isn’t for you! “Coming from terraced plots along the coast and aged all in concrete, it is decidedly Provencal in style with juicy, pure strawberry, citrus, orange peel and ample minerality as well as a medium-bodied, racy profile on the palate. Hard to resist, with fabulous purity, enjoy it over the coming year.” WA on the 2013
Here’s what the winery recommends to serve it with: Spaghettis bolognaise, Pizza jambon fromage, Lasagne à la bolognaise, Ratatouille, Paella, Galettes de sarrasin, Hamburger maison.
Okay… not sure about buckwheat pancakes (Galettes de sarrasin), but I get where they are going. Treat ‘em like a savory crepe, filled with cheese, peppers, onions… hmmm… okay, I am on board!
Of course, you can put this baby with just about anything you want – such is the beauty of rose!
Decanter: 92 Points
“This is a very, very pale blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache and Mourvèrde – where white wine meets rosé, with the merest blush of a peachy tint. It’s elegant, fragrant and alluring. The intersection of orange blossom and peach blossom, and it’s super-fresh. This is deft, clever winemaking that manages to be refreshing without resorting to sharpness. Impressively pure, delicate, subtle, engaging, alluring and bright with long tapering length. It’s a charming aperitif that also pairs beautifully with green olives.” Decanter
James Suckling: 90 Points
“Pale coral color with a fragrant nose of strawberries, roses, peaches, sea shells, lemons and sweet basil. Medium-bodied, delicate and fresh, but packs in so much flavor. Dry and very nicely done. “ JS
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
“A blend of 50% Grenache Gris, 30% Grenache Noir and 20% Mourvèdre, the 2022 IGP Cotes Catalanes Miraflors Rose reveals aromas of red berries, watermelon, lemon, spices and menthol. Moderately weighted with a juicy texture, it’s fresh, elegant and well-balanced with an iodine-laced finish.” WA
