Shows impressive fruit purity and lusciousness, with textural finesse and dried herbs on the streaming, polished finish, where there’s sneaky grip and length. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault. Juicy red and black berries, pepper, leather, and savory garrigue aromatics define the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault that was partially destemmed and aged 12 months in 80% foudre and 20% used barrels. It's medium-bodied, has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and outstanding length. Beautifully balanced with remarkable purity and elegance, it will evolve for 15-20 years in cold cellars. There are roughly 2,083 cases produced. Drink 2025-2045.

Sensual and perfumed, the 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine de la Janasse is a striking success, especially when compared to the more muscular, introverted 2022. Bursting with aromas of violets, spring flowers, dark cherries and garrigue, it’s medium- to full-bodied and dense yet vibrant, with a fleshy core of fruit framed by velvety tannins and a satiny, seamless texture. The finish is long, harmonious and gently spiced. A blend of 65% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, it was matured for 12 months in a combination of foudres and used barrels (20%), offering a beautifully integrated and balanced expression of the vintage.
