“The 2018 Cenerentola is aromatically stunning. It has a darkly alluring bouquet of plum and cherry sauce complemented by clove, cinnamon and cedar shavings; an undergrowth hint grounds the experience to the earth. It washes across the palate like pure silk, polished and elegant. Tart wild berry fruits and exotic spices swirl throughout and contrast the pretty inner sweetness. A balsamic tinge adds further depth as zesty acidity forces the mouth to water, and a coating of fine tannins frames the finale. The 2018 Cenerentola is a Tuscan gem, blending 65% Sangiovese with 35% Foglia Tonda, a local variety that nearly went extinct. The Foglia Tonda adds a bit of rusticity here, but the end result is fantastic. I’d love to revisit this in another two to three years.”
