This gem comes from a parcel on the southern end of Meursault. Located in both Le Dos d’Ane and Les Chaumes des Perrieres, the vineyard is just above the Meursault 1er Cru vineyard of Perrieres and adjacent to the famed Narvaux vineyard. The land was purchased by Raymond’s grandfather in 1975. Realizing the soil was not deep enough to plant correctly, he asked the government for, and received, permission to add 20 cm of topsoil. After the vineyard was planted, some disgruntled farmers appealed the decision and the vineyard was declassified to simply “Bourgogne”.
Now, some 47 years later, the vines’ roots have grown deep into the earth, producing wine more than worthy of the Meursault moniker. Alas… still Bourgogne, we are blessed with a steal! Compare with Louis Jadot Meursault Narvaux 2019, rated 93 pts JS, selling for $94.99 online!!!
