Old Vine Grenache Blanc, 30% Chardonnay, 20% Rolle (aka Vermentino), all unoaked. The Grenache vines are over 80 years old! Possibly the most delicious and interesting white under $15 we have in the store. So what's it like?
Wow... it offers a wide range of aromas and flavors... peaches, lime zest, white pepper, anise, mint, white flowers, minerals, peach, nectarine... all in a dry, crisp package. The finish builds as the bottle drains, leaving a haunting memory of an unbelievable value when the wine is gone.
It's fairly substantial in body. Aligned with vibrant acidity, this is a versatile food companion. Or porch companion! Perfect for popping with pan-seared halibut over a bed of lentils spiced with some cumin and garlic.
