Possibly THE rose revelation of 2020 was this stunning gem from Sancerre. Normally known for it’s high-acid whites, about 10% of Sancerre’s production is red grapes. While most of these go into Sancerre Rouge, some vintners are kind enough to share with us the beautiful gift that is Sancerre Rose.
It’s the best of both worlds- stony, round mineral flavors melding with playful strawberries and peach notes highlighted by zesty citrus. Fun, fresh, and with a mouthwatering finish, this is juicy and bright but with some complex mineral notes that make it more than your everyday rose!
Let me put it to you in another way- this is everything good about pinot noir rose combined with the gorgeous acidity of a world class Sancerre. It’s fresh strawberries and peaches and cool, breezy minerals all swirling together in your glass. It’s everything I love about summer all poured into a bottle.
