The spectacular Quinta de Saes Tinto comes to us from Portugal’s Dao region, one of the most unique wine growing areas in western Europe. The Dao is located inland, in north-central Portugal, approximately halfway between Lisbon and Porto. The region has a temperate continental climate, protected from the cold winds of the Atlantic by the Luso Mountains, from the warm winds of Extremadura to the east by the Sierra da Estrela, and from the arid heat of the Douro by the Serra do Caramulo. The best wines of the region (like this) are incredibly elegant, with superb aromatics, pure fruit, and impeccable balance. Once you taste it you’ll be hooked just like I am!
