90% Sangiovese. 10% Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of Tuscany. Stunning, especially with a little air – this baby, while delicious when we first popped it, only improved over the course of the evening. From first pour, the glass explodes with aromas of ripe cherries and berries, blended with spicy notes from the French oak aging. Make no mistake, this is a modern styling of Sangiovese, dripping with fruit, velvety tannins and spice. I enjoyed with a lamb shank ragu. You could go bigger and serve with red meat, or tone it down a bit with grilled pork. Be generous with the fresh herbs, and you’ll really accentuate the fruit in the wine. Delish! This wine is big enough to handle bold flavors, but refined enough not to overpower a more elegant dish…you really can’t go wrong!
