Sokol Blosser is unquestionably one of the iconic producers of the Willamette Valley. It's been a family owned and operated winery going back to 1971, which makes them 53 years old today. Located in the heralded "Red Hills of Dundee", their renowned Estate vineyard is planted to what are known as Jory soils - these are the remnants of ancient lava flows from thousands of years ago, which due to a high iron content, display a noteworthy reddish color. Founders Bill and Susan Sokol Blosser firmly believed that responsible farming practices are not only inherently important, but that they also yield superior wines. They are certified organic, and the growing, living roof garden at their tasting room is a sight to behold!
Today the second generation of the family is running the show, with Alex Sokol Blosser at the helm along with his siblings, and they are only building qualitatively upon the impressive foundation built by their parents. While the family also has vineyard holdings in two other AVA's of the Willamette Valley, it's the Dundee Hills Estate that provides the gorgeous fruit to craft this utterly crushable Rose of Pinot Noir.
The grapes were harvested from the south and middle sections of Concert Block on their Dundee Hills Estate on September 7-15 and were immediately destemmed. The fruit was sent directly to the press and gently pressed to minimize extraction of tannins from the skins. The 2024 Rosé of Pinot Noir bursts with ripe strawberry, citrus, melon, and pineapple on the nose. On the palate, tart mango and strawberry offer a lovely balance between the bright red fruit notes and acidity. Beautiful peachy pink Rosé of Pinot Noir is summer in a glass.
