We've raved about Verdejo in the past- "The Spanish answer to Sauvignon Blanc"! With all the same bright citrusy aromatics, fresh juicy palate and lively acidity, Verdejo is a must for all fans of crisp and refreshing white wines!
This is bright and enormously aromatic. Loaded with enticing citrus and tropical fruit, there’s a hint of minerality on the zesty palate that plays with some really cool floral notes. To me, the most compelling part of the wine is this light coriander note that seems to pull it all together. It's just complex enough to put alongside a wide variety of food-specifically fish dish and especially anything from Southeast Asia- but this wine really just shines as a solo act. Grab a bottle and just enjoy the day!
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
"The white 2024 Basa from Rueda was produced with 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura in a direct, fresh and expressive style. Coming from a diversity of vineyards, it was cropped from a warmish year with around 500 liters of rain but with a cooler September that allowed for a good end of the season, and the grapes achieved good ripeness and were picked starting September 23. This fermented and matured with the lees in stainless steel and finished with 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.35 and 5.96 grams of acidity. It's still very young, only faintly reductive, expressive, varietal and fresh, very tasty, almost salty." - Luis Gutiérrez
