"The Chianti Classico zone is large and varied, stretching from the suburbs of Florence in the north to the outskirts of Siena in the south. Soil and aspect vary greatly within the zone. As a result, there are those who argue that the zone should be divided into subzones, or into communes, as in the Médoc [Bordeaux, France]. If this were the case, the wines from Castelnuovo Berardenga, the southernmost commune, would be the Pauillac of Chianti, for the wines have power, intensity and, at their best, great elegance and longevity." - Oxford Companion to Wine, Third Edition
50% Cabernet Sauvignon / 50% Cabernet Franc from the “Pauillac” of Tuscany? Considering a true Pauillac with this quality would set you back $90+, this represents an incredible value!
All estate grown fruit, hand harvested, and double sorted for this cuvee. The warmer microclimate of Castelnuovo Berardenga yields wonderfully ripe fruit that’s blessed with natural acidity, and the soils in the heart of Chianti Classico give great structure and minerality. This is sensual stuff, loaded with dark cherry and blackberry fruit, lavender and spice box aromas, all in a plush package with fine tannins. This will age another 10-15 years with style and grace. An absolute steal…

"From the estate's Tenuta San Giovanni Vineyard, this is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc aged in oak for 16 months. The Tolaini 2019 Valdisanti is quite generous and rich, with thick layers of dark fruit, black cherry, pencil shaving, tar and licorice. Best After 2022."
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
"A polished red, this offers plum, blackberry, black currant, leather and a hint of wild herb aromas and flavors. Balanced and harmonious, with refined tannins gracing the long, iron-tinged finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2024 through 2040."
