From the historic Vina San Pedro estate, established in 1865 in Chile’s Curico Valley. This Sideral Cabernet blend comes from their Cachapoal Andes Valley property. Located 110 kilometers south of Santiago, with high elevation vineyards planted at 1500-2000+ ft in the foothills of the steep Andes mountain range. Here their vines enjoy volcanic mineral rich soils, warm summer days, and huge diurnal temperature changes. This allows bunches to ripen slowly, thickening grape skins, building flavors, and improving acidity. All in all producing superb sets of fruit and strikingly powerful complex wines.
A blend ofof 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Syrah, 1% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and 6% Carmenere, aged for 14 months in French oak barrels (only 20% new to preserve the essence of the fruit). It’s packed with dark berries, notes of chocolate, cedar, cassis, and plum. Juicy and fresh on the tongue, more dark fruits weave around a core of fine grained tannins. With more air the flavors expand, more spice, minerals and juicy blackberry fruit leading into a long smooth finish that seems to last for minutes. Superb now, and I expect it’ll age gracefully for at least a decade. For $22 A stunning value and a superb wine.

“An attractive version, with river stone and fresh floral details melding with red currant and raspberry flavors, all enlivened by fresh acidity. This unlocks additional layers of orange peel, rosemary and cassis and finishes with presence and length, adding subtle dark chocolate notes around refined tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2032. 30,000 cases made, 2,500 cases imported."

“The 2022 Sideral is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Carménère and 1% Cabernet Franc, sourced from the Totihue Vineyard in the Cachapoal Andes. Fifty-five percent of the wine underwent barrel aging, while the remainder aged in foudres and amphorae. This garnet red wine reveals notes of currant and boldo, with a deep garrigue-like layer. Dry, juicy and finely structured due to its reactive tannins, it offers a lingering finish with a mild and savory character. The 2022 vintage showcases the most compact mouthfeel yet for this cuvée.”
