“‘Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are siblings,’ says winmaker François Millet, ‘and the Chardonnay has much emotion to express as Pinot Noir. A region like Oregon, or wherever there is Pinot Noir, there should be Chardonnay. You understand them both better when both are present.’ This wine is hyperoxidised in the press. 20% new oak, 18 months. It’s a delicious Chardonnay, with racy minerality that complements the acidity, aromatics show a reductive approach, with ocean brine and smoky chipped flint, and a precise note of lemon curd. The palate is full of saline freshness, juicy Meyer lemon, and a crushed-stone minerality that frames it all.”
