In 1970 Henri Miquel decided to plant Syrah in Saint Chinian. At the time he was regarded as somewhat crazy because the region wasn’t known for that varietal. Years later and Henri has earned the title of “Mr. Syrah” and with this wine you can see why. A blend of 65% Syrah (from vines now 50+ years old) with 35% Grenache. This is a classic. Black olive, smoked meat, plum and dark cherry notes greet you, even next to some hefty Rhone reds this wine shone through. A soft, easy, ready to please mouthfeel follows. Red berry flavors from the Grenache, and more wild plum with notes of thyme and rosemary adding intrigue. If you like Cotes-du-Rhones you’ll love this! Chill it down a few degrees on a warm day and enjoy with anything you throw on the grill all summer long.
