Anyway you look at it, that is a heck of a deal for a “basic” Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc that is rated as highly as many $30+ Sancerre!
That’s because the wine is produced from an estate-owned, single vineyard located to the west of Sancerre. Jolivet treats the vineyards and grapes the same as he does in Sancerre – environmentally friendly viticulture, natural yeast fermentation, and minimal intervention. No wonder this acts like a $30 Sancerre, because the only difference is the location of the vineyard.
Such a fabulous reminder of why the Loire Valley is Sauvignon Blanc’s “home”, for nowhere else can you attain this style – exotic and floral… then juicy and full of fruit… all the while offering tangy citrus and intense minerality. “A tangy and delicious sauvignon showing lots of Loire intensity. Sliced green mangoes, a lemon character and just a hint of dried peaches and grass. Excellent vibes here.” JS
As the weather turns gorgeous, and we all are dying to get outside, you'll find this to be the perfect porch sipper. Or walk-the-dog sipper... I put it in a travel coffee container... Hey, don't judge me! Also fabulous with whatever veggies you have on hand, mixed with pasta and a little olive oil.
